Belfast Gets A Visit From Jordan
Belfast is this week playing host to a delegation of senior gas officials from Jordan and Syria. The visitors are in town to view the operations of Phoenix Natural Gas and to learn more about the development of a gas industry.
In the 10 years that the local natural gas industry has been growing in Northern Ireland, Phoenix has hosted delegations like this one from countries as far a field as India, Brazil, Argentina, The Philippines, China and Israel. As a result of these visits Phoenix was recently presented with an award by industry body the SBGI for promoting international relations.
The group will also be meeting with Iain Osborne, who currently heads the NI Authority for Utility Regulation, as well as making a stop at DETI – the local government department in charge on energy policy. Alastair Pollock, Retail Operations Director at Phoenix, commented on the significance of the visit by saying:
“We are always delighted to meet with people from other parts of the world who are sharing the challenges that we have encountered over the past decade. It is flattering that over here we are seen as a role model for best practice in gas operations”.
