Local Sports Teams Turn Pro with Phoenix Natural Gas for Ulster Rugby Clinch

21 March 2017

Budding local sports stars got close to the action at Ulster Rugby recently as part of a special evening to educate and engage young sporting talent, hosted by Phoenix Natural Gas.

Over 30 young players aged under 14 from Ballynahinch RFC and Drumaness GAC were welcomed by Phoenix Natural Gas to enjoy the Ulster vs. Zebre Pro 12 game on Saturday 11th March.

Visitors were given an exclusive tour of the Nevin Spence museum at the Kingspan Stadium where they learned about the history of Ulster Rugby and even had a chance to score a try with an interactive simulator. Young fans also had the opportunity to meet crowd favourite and graduate of the Phoenix Ulster Academy, Kyle McCall, and participate in a group question and answer session.

Jonathan Martindale, Sales and Marketing Director at Phoenix Natural Gas said, “Phoenix Natural Gas has been involved in supporting Ulster Rugby for a number of years and the Nevin Spence museum provides a fantastic learning and resource centre for young sports enthusiasts.

“We were delighted to host young players from different sporting clubs in County Down where we are currently working to extend the natural gas pipeline. The evening was enjoyed by all and, to cap it off, a great win for Ulster. Through the centre, local children were able to learn more about the game and be inspired to reach their sporting potential. Phoenix Natural Gas is actively involved in nurturing local talent through our sponsorship with Ulster Rugby, and also through our sports bursary programme which to date has helped dozens of rising stars achieve their goals.”

“We wish both clubs every success in their respective games and, as we work to develop the natural gas network in County Down, we look forward to welcoming more local sports teams to the Nevin Spence centre.”
