Heating up Home Improvement Month

29 March 2017

As new research reveals two thirds of homeowners are planning a home improvement project this year, local installer, Stephen Kane of Solv Group in East Belfast is reminding homeowners of the benefits of upgrading central heating systems and switching to natural gas.

A new survey, commissioned by Phoenix Natural Gas, polled Northern Ireland homeowners to find the top trends this April for UK Home Improvement Month.

Research found that over a third of homeowners are planning to spend up to £3,000 on improvements this year. With almost all homeowners (96%) agreeing that a warm, cosy house is what makes a house a home, Stephen says that home improvement month is set to heat up with more central heating upgrades.

“Central heating is the lifeblood of any home and, with 97% of natural gas customers saying they would recommend it to others, I would encourage homeowners to consider making the ultimate home improvement and upgrade to natural gas”, said Stephen.

“The research showed that a quarter of homeowners consult their local tradesperson for information about a home improvement and that’s certainly my experience. I’m seeing an increasing number of homeowners contact me for more information on natural gas and its benefits, as well as queries about converting their appliances to natural gas for improved efficiency and cheaper running costs.

“Every customer that I have upgraded to natural gas just loves it with instant heat, constant supply and high efficiency central heating boilers just some of the many benefits. Some homeowners opt to install a natural gas fire as the centre piece of their living room, or some use the additional bathroom space to fit a power shower or add an en suite where their redundant copper cylinder used to be.

“Whatever your plans are this home improvement month, I would encourage homeowners to make upgrading to natural gas top of the list.

“For those thinking of selling their home, there is no better time to upgrade to natural gas and maximise your home’s potential ahead of the spring property rush. With property prices up 5.7% in the last year in Northern Ireland, natural gas remains an attractive selling point for buyers looking for not just a house, but a home.”
